The Coniston Hotel forms part of the Coniston Estate, which has been home to the Bannister family since the late 1960s.  The estate comprises the magnificent Coniston Hall, The Coniston Hotel, Coniston Shooting Ground, Falconry Centre and much more.

 

After the Bannister's bought the estate they became aware of the need to diversify into areas other than farming.  They decided to convert one of the outlying barns in to a farm shop which sold produce from the estate including homemade preserves and fish.  Mrs Bannister and her late son, Tom were responsible for the farm shop and as today, the whole family was very involved in the every aspect of running the business.
